Our fourth quarter community service projects were all a success. Working with Faith and Victory Church, we gave 212 pounds of non-perishable food items to Greensboro Urban Ministries. They were able to use those products to help feed hungry people in the community.

Our chapter also was able to give a Walmart gift card to a needy family in the community. The family will be able to use it to purchase food, clothes, or gifts. Since one other organization was helping this family, the gift card will let them “fill in the gaps” where it is most needed.

Our final outreach was done in conjunction with Valor. Our two
organizations were able to provide airline tickets to reunite a family.
The father was in the US, while his family remained in Thailand. We also provided new and used appliances to help furnish their home, and Christmas gifts for the little girl.

All in all, we were able to be a blessing to those in our community.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to help bring joy to others during the Christmas holiday season.

Help us help these two families this Christmas.

We are adopting two families for Christmas this year.

The first is a family of three. The mother has cerebral palsy and is
confined to a wheelchair. Her daughter is 6 years old and her son his 12.
They need clothing items (the mother would need elastic waistbands),
food, toys, or gift cards to purchase these items.

The second family consists of a mother, father, and an 8 year old little
girl. The father is on disability. The mother and little girl are in
Thailand and hope to be joining him before Christmas. They are starting
fresh, with no furniture, appliances, etc. They only have what they can
bring on the plane. All contributions are welcome.

Thanks for being a part of this outreach! If you need more information,
please email us.

At our quarterly meetings we will strive to foster, and encourage, future scholastic endeavors. This may include lectures and presentations of academic merit by either our membership, or a guest speaker. We will also utilize networking to be sure our students all know about academic opportunities in our community. Students, and parents, are encouraged to share any curriculum, books, websites, etc. that they find of particular merit. We will continue to recognize, foster, and reward academic achievement by our membership.

Our members have already demonstrated academic prowess. We want to provide them with opportunities to both share their accumulated knowledge with others, and to learn to utilize the knowledge they have to be a leader in their community. Students have opportunities to be a good example each and every day. We want to encourage them to be aware of their ability to lead others by example.

We also want to provide opportunities for them to serve as a the leader of a group. This may be accomplished by developing a presentation to instruct their fellow society members in one of their skill sets, by serving in one of the society’s student leadership positions, or by providing project leadership on a community service project. This will develop skills they may not yet have been called upon to demonstrate in their academic careers.

As our students approach graduation, and their full immersion into the adult world, we want them to be aware of their need for involvement as good citizens. We do not promote a specific political agenda. Rather, we only encourage students to be aware of their world and how they may personally be a voice, or hand, for improvement. We will do this by encouraging good citizenship through community service.

Students will be encouraged to participate in community service opportunities where ever they find them. We will attempt to keep students aware of opportunities through our networking. We will also develop several projects during each year. Members will be encouraged to participate in these projects and to have a positive impact on their community.

Scholarship and leadership are good skills. But a skill must be used to be of benefit. We hope to inspire students to utilize their skills to benefit others.
