QUALIFICATIONS:
Membership in the honor society will be granted to any student in our service area who meets the following criteria:
The student must receive at least 50% of his education under the direct supervision of a parent. This meets the HSLDA definition of a home school student.
The student must be in the 9th – 12th grade of high school.
The student should have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
The student must have a qualifying test score on one of the approved tests. The test must be administered in a group setting. Tests administered by the parent are NOT acceptable. The test score may not be more than one year old at the time of application. These minimum scores are set by our parent organization and may not be modified by our chapter. The student need only apply once. There is no need to resubmit scores each year.

26 ACT or
180 PSAT or
90% on the composite/complete battery on the CAT, IOWA or Stanford nationally normed standardized achievement tests. Core totals may not be used.
If you have a student who meets these criteria, and would like to submit an application for membership, please send an email to belinda@hsaem.org. The email should include the students full name, school name, current grade, GPA, and qualifying test score. We will need a paper copy of the score report for our records.
Annual membership dues of $15 will also be required. Dues cover the ongoing society expenses such as web site registration, meeting expenses, certificates, etc.
Please note that the membership will not become official until the test score has been verified and the membership dues are received.
Once approved, the student’s admission to the honor society will be announced on our website. A short overview of his/her interests, achievements, etc. should be submitted for inclusion. Also, if you have a recent photo you would like displayed with the student’s membership announcement, please provide that as well.
BENEFITS:
A student accepted into the society will have gained recognition for academic distinction. This achievement may be listed on his college applications, on his transcript, and on his diploma upon graduation.
Each student will receive a certificate of membership.
We will have quarterly meetings which the student should attend. These will be used to develop scholarship, leadership, and citizenship through community service. They will provide opportunities for the student to add to his or her already impressive achievement.
Parents and students may sign up to receive our newsletter.
Student achievements outside of the society (sports awards, volunteer recognition, actor in a play, etc.) may be announced on the website. These are subject to approval as all content on the site is monitored and removed if inappropriate.
We will seek to provide additional benefits to the student. These benefits will serve to recognize the student’s achievement by either our society, or by community organizations. Those of an ongoing nature will be listed here. One time recognitions will be presented through emails and at our quarterly meetings.
